Instructors
Our instructors are experienced, thoughtful teachers who care deeply about how movement is learned—not just how it looks. Each brings their own perspective and background, but all share a commitment to clear instruction, intelligent progressions, and meeting clients where they are.
Erin Kennedy

I founded The Body Center in 2005 after more than a decade in the fitness industry. Training clients across Boston showed me that Pilates isn’t just a workout—it’s a framework for moving and living better. I opened the studio to help people apply Pilates principles to everyday life, not only to get stronger but to feel and function better overall.
Like many who discover Pilates, I came to it after an injury—leg pain rooted in muscular imbalances from years of training without enough comprehensive stretching. Pilates’ blend of strength and mobility improved my body awareness, corrected postural and muscular imbalances, and reshaped my approach to fitness. I believe flexibility, balance, and symmetry are essential to keeping the body healthy, and that everyone can benefit from pursuing that physical balance so our bodies can keep up with active lives.

I have been a dancer my whole life, and after a hip injury in 2013, I was introduced to Pilates equipment through physical therapy. That experience revealed how profoundly Pilates can support athletes—both in recovery and as cross-training to prevent injuries. After noticing how the method eased strain in my own body, I felt inspired to teach and share its transformative effects with as many people as I can.
My classes are intentional and athletic, combining elements of strength, mobility, and precision. We’ll work a range of major muscle groups and move through all planes of motion to build both stability and fluidity. Expect to find strength and length in equal measure—movement that challenges without strain and supports you beyond the studio.
Outside of the studio, you can find me walking my dog, exploring new restaurants with friends and family, or traveling. My goal is to create a class for all bodies, offering thoughtful progressions through each movement to accommodate everyone’s needs while fostering an environment that’s warm, encouraging, and challenging.

Prior to being a chiropractic physician, I danced professionally and trained with San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Northwest Dance Project, Doug Varone and Dancers, Ballet West Academy among others while also acting a Yoga Therapist at the Lou Ruvo Brain Hospital and private chiropractic clinics.
In 2018, I received a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certification from the University of Utah’s College of Health and in 2019 completed a comprehensive 450 hour Pilates training program which included professional development in Pilates Apparatus/Reformer/Trapeze table, Wanda chair, and Ladder barrel.
I am passionate about rehabilitative medicine and believes that the Pilates Apparatus is crucial for healing the spine. As Joseph Pilates said: “change happens through movement, and movement heals.” I continue a passion for helping others and lifelong learning of the body mechanics teaching movement in a creative, and personalized way.
